Natural colors

I've seen a lot of rooms decorated in neutral colors and I love have peaceful they look.  I thought I would try shopping my home and see if I could create the look for our front porch.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out, there is such a sense of calm in that space.

This look will be short lived though, we are giving our porch a much needed update.  I'll tell you more about that tomorrow.

A little chalkboard

We purchased this chalkboard from IKEA a few months ago.  It's come in quite handy.  The menu for the week is out where everyone can see it.

Easy and inexpensive centerpiece

This past winter Brian picked up this "fancy" soda.  I really liked the bottles and thought they would make  nice vases for my fourth of July table.  I stuck some daisies from our garden in each bottle and lined them down the table. Easy, and I think it turned out pretty cute.  How do you decorate on a budget?  I would love to hear!

A cozy corner

It's kind of amazing what moving your furniture around and adding a few accessories can do to a room.

I turned the sofa around to face the fireplace threw a blanket that I got on clearance at Target a couple of years ago and added this pillow from IKEA.  Now everyone gravitates to this spot.  It might be the kids playing on the floor, or Brian taking in a nap, or someone reading a book.

Just changing things up a little bit really added new life to this area of our home.
